Taking the Leap Into the Deep End…
Wanted to share a couple of thoughts for anyone that’s considering working with Russell or joining his Raising Capital Academy.
I have been investing in real estate for close to seven years, and for the last year I’ve been working with Russell one-on-one, and also a member of his Raising Capital Academy.
For me, three big things have happened.
- I was able to leave my career, and focus on real estate investing full-time.
- I doubled my portfolio size in the last year.
- I was able to start raising capital from non-family members, in the chunks of hundreds of thousands of dollars at a a time.
And if you would’ve told me I would accomplish any one of those things in a year, I would’ve been jumping up and down. But working with Russell, I was able to accomplish all three.
If anyone is sitting on the fence or debating whether they should maybe join his academy, or consider working with him one-on-one, I would highly, highly recommend it. You won’t meet a more genuinely authentic person with such a wealth of knowledge and such an amazing community around him.

I joined the Raising Capital Academy back in September of 2018. Russell had just launched his program, and I instantly saw the value of getting in early.
This community is something that I have been searching for for quite some time, a few years actually, not only for a great program, but to find a coach that I really align with and share the same values.
My wife and I had just purchased a property, the last one that we were able to with using our own resources.
We had exhausted all of our own mortgage qualifying power and used all of our own funds that we had available to invest with, so we were stuck, and it was time to take our business to the next level and learn the skills required to raise capital in order to continue to grow and build our portfolio and reach our goals.

There’s so many reasons to admire Russell Westcott! When choosing someone to aspire to, it’s wise to ensure they’ve achieved the results you want in ALL aspects of life.
Not only is Russell a full-time Canadian-based real estate investor, author, educator, and an inspirational public speaker, but Russell is happily married. So many “gurus” expound the secrets to health, happiness and wealth, but their personal lives are in shambles.
Not so with Russell! By setting a great example in self care, in his rock solid relationship with his wife and children, and in his business relationships, Russell exemplifies the qualities I want for myself as a real estate investor and as a person.
Before quitting my job as a General Duty RCMP officer to invest in real estate full time, I’d listened to thousands of hours of Russell’s presentations while commuting, working out, and when driving around in circles in my police car.

Life Changing Lessons…
Before learning about Real Estate Investing from the pros, my husband and I stumbled around in the dark, buying property, selling “duds” and learning about real estate investing all on our own.
I finally discovered Russell through his book “Joint Venture Secrets” and that was the beginning of a whole new chapter in our business!
A road trip across Canada with my daughter became the perfect opportunity to listen to a whole binder of CDs from one of Russell’s first programs and within the first 100 miles, I was totally hooked!
(My daughter… on the other hand … still groans when she hears the sound of Russell’s voice!)
But – those early learnings gave me the tools, and financial ability to not only quit my teaching job when life circumstances were crying out for me to do so, but to enter a whole new chapter in the creation of a business that I’m really excited about. It’s the real estate securing our “old age” that has given us the security to live the life we want “right now”!
Russell’s lessons were truly life changing.
I found Russell to be a clear, enthusiastic, dare I say “hilarious”, and motivating teacher, and I continue to listen to his recordings whenever I get the chance. Back then, he included interviews and guests as well, and the breadth and depth of the information was (and is) incredible.
As a result, we were not halted in our Real Estate Investments by the lack of access to cash, have added properties through JV, and other creative deals and have helped our partners as well. We continue to expand our real estate investment portfolio to this day.
I’m grateful to Russell for the clarity, information, confidence, and the energy with which he passes his extensive knowledge on to investors like me. Thanks Russell!

You’ve Inspired Me To Be a Better Version of Myself…
I have to tell you that you’ve been a huge source of inspiration for me. I became interested in Real Estate Investing because I wanted to build a solid financial platform for myself and for others, and when I started listening to your teachings it soon became clear to me that I could fit my own life mask whilst also at the same time helping other people fit theirs too.
I had very little of my own cash when I first started and so I’ve focused on becoming a joint venture specialist, let’s face it, I’ve pretty much modelled my life on becoming like you, as much as possible!
My parents always told me to be careful what I wish for, well, I have.
I have distinct memories of walking around lost lagoon in Stanley Park staring at the wildlife, listening to the soothing sound of your voice as I progressed through the joint venture secrets audio series!
I remember that at the time I didn’t really know whether I could actually attract joint ventures, but the way you told your own story made me believe that I could do it too, the story of your hiking partner who believed in you.
But as I’ve progressed, the more I met for a ‘coffee’ with people who were looking to get my advice, the more I believed in myself… some of your key messages over the years really stuck, “don’t fake it until you make it, be it until you become it” as cheesy as it sounds hit home, and although this was a more memorable quote, there were many other moments where you inspired me to be of service to others.
I feel like it is this attitude of being of service that you planted in me, has become a key success factor, you talk about putting ships out there so that some of them can return, and I started to see so many more ships coming back to me when I loosened up and started being more altruistic rather than chasing opportunities.
But aside from the knowledge you’ve passed to me, the JV methodology you’ve taught me, I really think you’ve inspired me to be a better version of myself. You’ve been transparent, vulnerable and authentic, you’ve talked about your own stories, and shared a passion for self-improvement.
You’ve shared pictures of your family and told stories of love and meaning, and that too has moved me.
I have seen myself go from a guy that felt guilty about “asking people for money” to feeling great about “offering people opportunities that are incredibly valuable to them” as well as having real coaching like conversations that inspire people to get clear on what is important in life.
I credit so much of this transformation to you.
I’ve still got so much to learn, but you’ve set me on a great path and I wanted to share with you how much you have impacted my life. I will forever be indebted to you and I’m eternally grateful.

I had the opportunity to meet Russell Westcott five years ago when I was struggling with my real estate portfolio.

I would just like to take a moment to let you know that your display of courage this weekend at the conference was both moving and respected. It brought a tear to my eye as I listened to and identified with many of the feelings that you were speaking of. Shyness has been something that I have also struggled with. Having been part of your audience many times, I would never have suspected that shyness has been part of your identity until you mentioned it.
