Change Happens From Within…
A couple of years ago I had a handful of stressful events in my life that created some gripping and debilitating anxiety, and this was impacting everything.
I remember hearing an interview with Dan Harris, where he talked about having an on-air panic attack, and how meditation helped him deal with this.
After listening to this interview, I went on a search to find some helpful resources, and came across another interview with Andy Puddicombe, and his organization Headspace and decided to give it a go.
Meditation is a skill that everyone can learn and benefit from. Taking a 10 – 20-minute time-out out to focus on your breathing is a good thing. Think of it like going to the gym and exercising your brain.
For the past few years, I incorporated meditation into my life, and this past week I past the 365 days in a row meditating and over 177 hours for the past couple of years.
Meditation is not a cure for anxiety, but it will change your relationship towards the anxiety. It will provide you a tool to help quiet your overactive mind, not buying into all the shitty thoughts and stories you are telling yourself.
I Highly recommend the resource of Headspace, if you are looking to get started down the wonderful journey of meditation.
This post is meant to encourage and inspire you to give meditation a try. The worst that can happen is you take a time out from all the noise and create some extra headspace for yourself. Please, share your thoughts below on meditation, I would love to hear your experiences (good and bad) and if you have had any breakthroughs.
For the next 365-day challenge… my next book has been rattling around in my head for the better part of the last year, and now it’s time to get it finished. For the next 365 days, I am committed to write each day to complete this passion project.
Looking forward to the journey.
